A large twining, nearly glabrous shrub, sometimes scandent, 2-4 m high, branches terete, angular or striate, green. Leaves opposite, imparipinnate, 5-7.5(-12) cm long; petiole 0.5-4 cm long, petiole, petiolule and rachis margined, rachis at junction of leaflets densely hairy abaxially. Leaflets (5-)7-11, glabrous, dark green, the upper pair with a broad flat base often confluent with the terminal leaflet; terminal leaflet 2.5-3.7 cm x 1.2-1.7 cm, larger than the rest, but not markedly so, rhomboid-ovate or rhomboid-lanceolate with acute or acuminate apex; the lateral leaflets 2.5-3.5 x ca. 1.5 cm, ovate, apex usually obtuse, mucronate; proximal pairs shortly petiolulate, the intermediates sessile; margins of leaflets pubescent. Flowers 3-3.8 cm across, bisexual, actinomorphic, hypogynous, fragrant, white, often tinged with pink outside, in lax axillary or terminal 2-9-flowered cymes longer than the leaves. Pedicels 0.5-3 cm long, pedicels of the middle flower conspicuously shorter. Bracts: lower often large, ovate to spathulate-oblong, foliaceous, the upper small, linear, 4-5 mm long. Calyx glabrous; tube 2-2.5 mm long; lobes 5, subulate, 2-3+ times longer than the tube (up to 8-9 mm long). Corolla salver-shaped, white; tube 1.8-2.5 cm long; lobes 5, slightly unequal, 1.3-2 cm x 6-7 mm, elliptic, obovate or oblong, involute at margin. Stamens 2, included, inserted at upper part of corolla tube; filaments ca. 1.5 mm long; anthers 3.5-4 mm long, oblong, apiculate, dorsifixed. Carpels 2, syncarpous; ovary bilocular, 2 ovules per loculus; style up to 14 mm long; stigma 2.5-3 mm long, linear-lanceolate or oblong, extended above anthers.

Fruit capsule, 2-3 mm x 2-3 mm, 4- seeded. (Fruit not observed) .
